Director's Bio
Catholic University of America Head Coach Gia Cillizza will direct this Revolution Field Hockey Camp. Gia has been part of the Cardinals coaching staff for eleven years and at the helm of the program for the past nine. Gia helped transform Catholic into a nationally recognized program, and in the process became its winningest coach.
In 2006, she was named the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Coach of the Year and guided her team to its first ever top seed in the CAC. In 2007 & 2008 Coach Cillizza and her staff received Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year award. The 2010 squad set new program records with 17 wins, spent eight weeks in the Top 20 NFHCA Coaches Poll, and captured an ECAC Championship Title.
The 2011 team finished once again with 17 wins and advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they fell to Lynchburg. The Cardinals were a perfect 11-0 in home games.
Gia, a St. Louis, Mo. native, was the captain at Visitation Academy (high school) the year they went 22-0 and captured the Midwest Championship. She attended Miami University of Ohio where she was a three-year starter and two-time captain. Coach Cillizza remains highly involved with the USFHA and is a USA Field Hockey Futures Site Director and Head Coach. She coached an Under 19-team at the NFT (National Futures Tournament). She is also working on a master's degree in psychology at CUA.
