A Letter to Today’s Youth Coaches

I am so grateful that today’s youth have the opportunity to learn life lessons through sport. Coaching is a privilege- I take very seriously. Revolution Field Hockey has given me the opportunity to remain invested in the development and progress of youth athletes in the sport of field hockey that gave me so many fond memories and life skills. Our camps and clinics offer valuable touch points for aspiring athletes. Revolution Field Hockey answers a need for sport specific training. We are committed to doing what is in the best interest of the children participating. Our camp directors design practice plans by this principle.

As coaches, we aim to give campers the tools to navigate their internal dialogue and external influences. To feel what is natural about skill acquisition and teach them the proper mechanics and strategy. Doing this for 4 consecutive days in the summer heat can be challenging- so it also must be fun.

An athlete must find ways to push, motivate and compete to reach their potential. Our staff is dedicated to supporting them on this journey.

As an organization – we understand the appropriate training ratios. We allocate time on the pitch in a productive and meaningful manner. We organize camper bonding activities and demand the necessary rest to recuperate our muscles. We cannot tell an athlete to feel exhausted, to feel a drive, to feel desire they must live it themselves to understand the meaning. One never knows when or if “it will click”, but we sure to have fun showcasing our love of the game in hopes of being a role model and inspiration to finding a passion of their own on or off the pitch.
