Michigan State University Asst. Coach, Helen Knull, will direct this Orchard Lake Camp. Helen brings a wealth of international and domestic experience to her role as the director of this camp. She joined MSU in 2006 after three years as the assistant coach at her alma mater, Kent State University. This year, the MSU squad went 16 -6 – 0, finishing #2 in the Big Ten regular season standings and earned a bid to the NCAA Champion-ships.
Helen, a native of Glasgow, Scotland, was a four-year starter and a two-time All-American at Kent State, leading the Golden Flashes to the NCAA tournament four straight years (1999-2002). In 2002, Helen was named Mid-American Conference player of the year and is being induced into the Kent State Hall of Fame, class of 2008. While coaching at Kent State, she helped guide the Golden Flashes to two Mid-American Conference champion-ships (2003, 2005). She was also integral to the development of two Freshmen of the Year and one MAC Player of the Year recipients during this time period.
When not with her Division I all-stars, she works as a regional coaching director for Region Nine of the United States Field Hockey Futures Program and served as the site director from 2002-2005. She has coached at several camps across the nation as well.
Joining Helen's staff is David Williamson. David has extensive coaching experience both in the United States and abroad. He is a site director and head coach for futures and former Kent State University assistant coach. He coached the Bainbridge Academy boy’s team to numerous national championships in Northern Ireland. He was the GK coach with the Irish national women’s team and an assistant coach for the Irish u18 girls that finished in 4th place in Europe in back-to-back seasons.
David is an experienced field hockey player as well. He was a Double National Championship winner and a European Championship finalist with his current club, Lisnagarvey.
