Tina McDavitt is the Tufts University Head Field Hockey Coach. Coach McDavitt took over the Tufts program in 2004 and has turned the Jumbos into one of New England’s finest collegiate teams. The Jumbos finished their 2006 season 11 – 5, the program’s best record in a decade. Season highlights included defeating the Div III #4 seed, a second consecutive NESCAC conference appearance and the first NFHCA All-American honoree since 2000.
Coach McDavitt is a native of Walpole, MA and a Boston University graduate. At BU, Tina was a four-year standout and Captain of the 1999 team. That same year she led the Terriers to an undefeated America East Championship, a #13 national ranking and was recognized individually with an America East First Team Selection, as well as, a First Team Regional All-American honor. A high school standout, Tina led Walpole High School to consecutive Massachusetts State Championships in 1994 and 1995. Following graduation, Tina spent four seasons as the Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Holy Cross.
In 2005, Tina was one of 12 players named to the U.S. Indoor National Team for the 2005- 2006 season and participated in the Pan-Am Cup Qualifier Tournament. A lifelong enthusiast for the sport, McDavitt is highly involved with the USA Field Hockey’s Futures Program and most recently traveled to Vienna, Austria for the Burlington Cup Indoor Tournament.
