Tina McDavitt, Tufts University Head Field Hockey Coach led her team to the best season in school history in 2008. The Jumbos broke the Tufts scoring record and recorded the most wins in a season. They finished the year with a perfect regular season going 14-0 and finished 19 – 2 overall. After receiving a bid to the NCAA tournament, the squad made it to the National Championship game losing a hard fought game in double overtime. These accomplishments led Coach McDavitt to being named NESCAC Coach of the Year and NFHCA New England West Regional Coach of the Year.
Coach McDavitt is a native of Walpole, MA and a Boston University graduate. At BU, Tina was a four-year standout and Captain of the team in 1999. That same year she led the Terriers to an undefeated America East Championship, a #13 national ranking and received individual honors including: America East First Team Selection and First Team Regional All-American.
In 2005, Tina was one of twelve players named to the U.S. Indoor National Team for the 2005- 2006 season and participated in the Pan-Am Cup Qualifier Tournament. Tina was selected again in 2008 for the team, but stayed behind to lead her 2008 Tufts squad to victory. A lifelong enthusiast of the sport, McDavitt is highly involved with the USA Field Hockey’s Futures Program and has been a Revolution Field Hockey Camp director for seven summers.
