Director's Bio

Linda MacDonald is in her ninth season as the Head Coach of Pacific's field hockey team after leading the Tigers to an 11-8 record in 2006. In her nine seasons at the helm for Pacific, the Tigers have broke just about every program record including most wins in a season (11) twice, most consecutive victories (7), most goals (36) and most points in a season (93). The Tigers have earned two NCAA berths  and Coach MacDonald was named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) West Region Coach of the Year and the NorPac Conference Coach of the Year Award in 2004.

Prior to taking the Pacific reins in 1998, Coach MacDonald served as an assistant coach at Pacific for 11 seasons. Before coming to Pacific, Linda was the head coach at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass. from 1984-86, where she amassed an impressive 37-9-2 record and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Final Four in 1986.

Coach MacDonald is currently serving on the NCAA All-American Committee and on the NCAA Coach of the Year Committee. Earlier in her career (1991-2000), MacDonald was a coach in the National Futures Program and was the West Region Coaching Director in 1992. She was a manager for the West teams at the United States Olympic Sports Festivals in 1990 and 1991. She currently coaches in the U.S. Developmental Program.

Coach MacDonald earned her bachelor's degree in 1973 from Springfield College (Mass.), graduating with cum laude honors. She went on to earn her master's degree in sport sciences from Pacific in 1991. During her undergraduate study, MacDonald was also a four-year starter on the field hockey team, which went 24-6-5 and competed on the U.S. National Field Hockey squad in 1976.
