Campers will enjoy Hamilton's new athletic facility along Campus Road. A lighted all-weather artificial turf field used by varsity field hockey and lacrosse and lighted natural grass fields behind the turf facility are the hub for Hamilton's athletic activities.
Gillian McDonald is in her second year as the Head Field Hockey Coach at Hamilton College. Gillian was an Assistant Field Hockey Coach at the University of Rochester in 2004.
Rochester posted a 10-9 record during Gillian’s one season with its field hockey team. She spent the 2005-06 school year at the North American Hockey Academy in Stowe, Vermont, where she coached a girls’ 19-and-under ice hockey team that competed against American prep schools and Canadian club teams. Coach McDonald was an assistant women’s ice hockey coach at Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2004-05 season.
Gillian lettered in both field hockey and ice hockey at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She was a first team All-America selection for field hockey in 2003 and a two-time all-region pick. Gillian was named first team all-New England Small College Athletic Conference all four years at Bowdoin and helped lead the field hockey team to a conference title as a first-year player in 2000. She was given Bowdoin’s Sidney J. Watson Award after her senior year in 2004 for distinguishing herself by her athletic performance and leadership of more than one team. Coach McDonald was named the school’s outstanding first-year female athlete in 2001.
The Hudson, Quebec, native received a bachelor’s degree in French with an education minor from Bowdoin in 2004. Gillian attended prep school at the Berkshire School in Sheffield, Mass.
